The rules for content and conduct on The Prompt Index, and what happens if they are broken.
Version 1.0. Last updated: 7 November 2026. This policy is part of our Terms of Service.
The short version
Don't use The Prompt Index to create, upload or share anything illegal, or anything that harms or deceives other people.
Zero tolerance: child sexual abuse material; sexual or intimate images of real people without their consent (including AI "nudify" edits and deepfakes); and terrorist content. We remove it, close the account and report it to the authorities.
Only upload images and files you have the right to use. Only edit photos of real people with their permission. Do not upload photos of real, identifiable children to any of our tools, including the image tools, picture-book mode and Persona Studio. Picture books describe characters in words.
Don't attack, scrape, overload or get around the limits of the service.
If you see something that breaks these rules, report it.
1. What this policy covers
This policy applies to everything you do on The Prompt Index. That includes what you type into our AI tools, files and images you upload, output you generate, and anything you publish or share: prompts, images, GPTs, skills, personas, books, share links, Helper Studio helpers and messages. It applies to guests as well as account holders, and to the browser extension.
The AI providers behind our tools have their own usage policies, and this policy reflects them. Content that breaks this policy may be blocked automatically before it reaches a provider.
2. Illegal content: never allowed
You must not use the service to create, request, upload, store, share or promote content, or behave in a way, that is illegal where you are or in the UK. This includes, in particular:
Child sexual exploitation and abuse, in any form, including drawings, AI-generated or edited images and text that sexualise anyone under 18, and grooming. Zero tolerance: we remove it, close the account and report it to the UK National Crime Agency.
Intimate image abuse: sharing, threatening to share, or creating intimate or sexual images of a real person without their consent. This includes AI "nudification", undressing edits and sexual deepfakes. Zero tolerance.
Terrorism: content that encourages, supports, glorifies or instructs in terrorism, or supports a proscribed organisation. Zero tolerance.
Threats, harassment and stalking, including threats to kill or harm, coercive or controlling behaviour, and abuse aimed at a person.
Hate: content that stirs up hatred on grounds of race, religion or sexual orientation, or that threatens or abuses people because of a protected characteristic.
Encouraging or assisting suicide or serious self-harm.
Fraud and financial crime: scams, phishing, fake documents, fake reviews, impersonating a business or official body, and money laundering.
Illegal goods and services: selling or supplying drugs, weapons, firearms or explosives, and helping illegal immigration or human trafficking.
Sexual exploitation, including content that facilitates prostitution for gain, and extreme pornography.
Foreign interference and other false communications offences.
Hacking and malware: creating or distributing malicious code, or instructions for breaking into systems you are not authorised to test.
3. Other content we do not allow
Even where it might be legal, we do not allow:
Sexually explicit or pornographic content of any kind, including generated images, audio or stories. The Prompt Index is not an adult content service. (Romance and other fiction may deal with relationships, but must not be sexually explicit.)
Graphic violence or gore intended to shock, and content that promotes eating disorders, self-harm or dangerous challenges.
Bullying, targeted insults and doxxing (publishing someone's private information, such as their home address).
Deliberately deceptive content, such as fake news presented as real, fake quotes attributed to real people, or false health and election claims meant to mislead.
Spam: bulk, repetitive or purely promotional submissions, link farms, and SEO spam.
Instructions for serious harm, such as making weapons capable of mass harm.
4. Real people, likeness and privacy
Don't impersonate a real person, brand or organisation, or create a persona, helper or chatbot that pretends to be one in a way that could mislead people.
Don't create deepfakes: realistic images, audio or video of a real person saying or doing something they did not say or do. This is not allowed where it is sexual or demeaning, could damage their reputation, or could deceive people. Clearly labelled parody or satire of public figures that nobody could mistake for real may be acceptable.
Don't clone or imitate a real person's voice without their permission.
Don't upload other people's personal information, such as CVs, documents or chats about them, unless you are allowed to and it is necessary for what you are doing. Don't include other people's special category data (for example their health, religion or sexual orientation) unless you are allowed to share it and it is necessary for what you are doing. Our general AI tools don't need it, so leave it out of them.
Children:Do not upload photos of real, identifiable children to any of our tools, including the image tools, picture-book mode and Persona Studio. Picture books describe characters in words. Don't include a child's full name together with identifying details (school, address) in books or prompts you publish.
5. Rules for image, audio and photo-editing tools
Our image tools (generation, editing, inpainting, extending, combining, erasing objects, background removal, upscaling), PromptBook illustrations and SoundLabs follow these extra rules:
Only upload images you own or have permission to use. If a photo shows real people, you must have their permission to edit it the way you are editing it. When you upload a photo of a person, we may ask you to confirm this. Our image tools check uploaded photos and prompts automatically before processing and refuse prohibited requests.
No sexualised, nude or "undressing" edits of real people, ever, including changing clothing to underwear or swimwear to sexualise someone. No images of minors in any sexual or suggestive context.
Don't remove watermarks, logos, copyright notices or credit lines from other people's images, or remove AI-provenance labels or metadata. The object eraser is for removing unwanted objects from your own images.
Label realistic AI images and audio of real people, places or events as AI-generated when you publish them, where the law or platform rules require it, or where people might otherwise be misled.
Our tools use automated safety checks and may refuse a request. Do not try to get around a refusal, for example by misspelling words or splitting a request into parts.
6. Copyright and other people's rights
Don't upload, publish or generate content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights. Examples: copying paid prompt packs, books or courses, using brand logos to suggest endorsement, or reproducing copyrighted characters to sell.
Don't submit someone else's prompt as your own to our public libraries unless you have their permission or the original allows it. Credit the source where you can.
Rights holders can send us a notice using our copyright procedure. Repeat infringers: we close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe.
7. Honest use of AI output
Don't pass off AI output as your own unaided work where the rules require you to disclose AI use, for example coursework, exams, job applications or publications that ban or restrict AI, or where your employer or client is entitled to know. Using our tools to help you learn, plan, draft and improve your writing is fine. Using them to cheat is not.
The AI Humanizer is for improving the readability and tone of text you are entitled to use. It is not a tool for hiding AI use from people who are entitled to know about it, and we do not claim it will defeat any AI detector.
Don't use AI output to deceive people into thinking they are talking to a human. If you deploy one of our chatbots or helpers, keep its AI label visible.
Don't use the AI Detector's score as the only evidence that someone cheated or used AI. It is an estimate and can be wrong.
Don't use our tools to write fake reviews or testimonials, or to generate content designed to manipulate search engines or social platforms at scale.
8. Decisions about people
Don't use our tools (for example Sheet Scorer, CV-related tools or the AI Detector) as the only basis for decisions that significantly affect someone, such as hiring, firing, grading, disciplinary action, credit, insurance or housing. A suitably qualified person must review the result, and you are responsible for following employment, equality and data protection law.
9. Protecting the service
You must not:
hack, probe or test the security of the service without our written permission (if you find a vulnerability, please email us);
overload the service, run excessive automated requests, or interfere with other users;
scrape, crawl or bulk-download our databases, prompts, courses or other users' content, or use them to build a competing database or to train AI models, without our written permission. Ordinary search-engine indexing that follows our robots.txt is fine;
get around usage limits, paywalls, guest-trial limits or safety measures, including by using multiple accounts, VPNs or false details to claim offers more than once;
resell or give others access to your account or our tools, or reverse-engineer our software (except where the law allows);
use the browser extension or our APIs in ways other than intended.
10. Extra rules for public content
When you submit to our public libraries, create public personas or helpers, or make share links:
make sure it is suitable for a general adult audience and accurately described;
don't include personal information about yourself that you would not want public, or about anyone else;
don't add hidden instructions designed to make AI tools misbehave (prompt injection) or to harm people who use your prompt;
We find breaches through checks before publication, automated safety tools in our AI features, user reports and our own review. Our Terms of Service (section 14) explain our moderation system, including the automated tools we use and when a person decides.
Depending on how serious the breach is, and whether it has happened before, we may:
refuse a request, or decline to publish a submission;
remove content, or limit who can see it (for example make a share link private);
warn you;
temporarily restrict features, such as publishing, image tools or guest access;
report illegal content to the police or other authorities where the law requires it, or where someone's life or safety is at risk. We always report child sexual abuse material to the National Crime Agency.
When we take action against your content or account, we tell you what we did and why. That includes the rule or law involved, whether we relied on automated tools, and how to appeal, unless the law prevents it or telling you would put someone at risk. We act proportionately and take freedom of expression and privacy into account.
12. Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal within 6 months of our decision. Reply to our decision email, or use our complaints process (contact form, topic "Other", starting your message with "COMPLAINT:", or email). A person will look at the decision again. We aim to tell you the outcome within 14 days. If we were wrong, we will restore your content or account as quickly as we can. If you are in the EU, you can also take a dispute about our decision to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under Article 21 of the Digital Services Act (your national Digital Services Coordinator lists them), or go to court. Appeals about content removed after a copyright notice follow the counter-notice procedure.
