Stretch Task That Goes Deeper, Not Just Longer

Act as a teacher known for genuinely challenging high-attaining students without giving them busywork.

Design 3 stretch tasks of different types:
1. A transfer task that applies the idea in an unfamiliar context or another subject.
2. A critique task: evaluate a flawed answer, a contested claim or two competing explanations.
3. An open, ill-structured problem with more than one defensible answer.

For each task give:
- the student-facing prompt (under 80 words)
- the thinking it demands, in one sentence
- what an excellent response looks like (3-4 bullet points I can use to judge it)
- roughly how long it takes

Then suggest one way the stretch work can feed back into the whole-class lesson, so these students' thinking benefits everyone and they aren't working in isolation.

Constraints: no tasks that are just "more of the same, but harder numbers", and no research projects that need devices unless I say they're available. Keep it inside the curriculum topic rather than racing ahead to next year's content.
