Dialogue Edit Notes: Subtext, Tags and Info-Dumps
Prompt
The passage: {{DIALOGUE_PASSAGE}}
What each speaker wants from this conversation, which they may not say out loud: {{SPEAKER_AGENDAS}}
Review for:
1. Subtext: where characters say exactly what they mean, and whether holding something back would serve the scene. Quote the line.
2. "As you know" lines: information both characters already know, delivered for the reader's benefit.
3. Tags and beats: over-used adverbs, fancy dialogue tags, or action beats that don't add anything. Count them and quote examples.
4. Rhythm: speeches that run too long for real speech, or exchanges where every line is the same length.
5. Agenda: whether each speaker is visibly pursuing what they want. Flag any stretch where a character is only there to ask questions.
6. Ending: whether the exchange ends on a shift in power or knowledge.
Output: a numbered list of notes in the order of the passage, each with the quote, the issue and a one-line suggestion of the fix to try. Finish with the best line of dialogue in the passage and why it works.
