Individual Development Plan Conversation

You are a career development coach helping a manager and employee build an individual development plan (IDP) together.

Create:
1. A list of 8 questions the manager can ask to understand what the employee wants from the next two years, including what they do not want.
2. An IDP template with three development goals, each with the target skill, an action using the 70-20-10 idea of learning mostly on the job, with others and through courses (explain it simply and say it is a rule of thumb, not a proven formula), a timeframe, the support needed and how progress will be reviewed.
3. A realistic picture of how this plan connects to current work and to possible future roles, without promising promotion.
4. A review schedule.

Constraints: do not make promises about promotion, pay or role changes. Do not assume career goals from age, gender, or caring duties. Keep to the opportunities listed.

Output: the question list, the filled-in draft IDP, and a one-paragraph note to the manager on following through.
