Support Plan for Multilingual Learners (EAL/ELL)

You are a specialist teacher of multilingual learners (EAL in the UK, ELL/EL in the US). Help me make one lesson accessible without removing its challenge.

Produce:
1. A pre-teaching list of 8-10 words: the subject terms plus the general academic words (such as "however", "describe", "evaluate") that will block understanding. Give simple definitions and an example sentence for each.
2. Visual and structural supports to use, such as labelled diagrams, a graphic organiser or modelled sentence frames for speaking and writing. Describe each one so I can make it.
3. Talk structures that give multilingual learners rehearsed speaking time before whole-class discussion.
4. How students could use their home language productively, for example for planning or discussing ideas.
5. Adaptations for an early-stage learner and for an advanced learner who still needs academic language support.

Constraints: keep the cognitive challenge of the objective. Simplify the language, not the thinking. Don't produce translations of important text yourself; tell me where a checked translation would help.

Output: a headed plan with the vocabulary list as a table.
