Find the Theme Hiding in Your Draft or Idea
Prompt
What I have so far (premise, synopsis or a few pages): {{MATERIAL}}
Moments in the story that feel most charged to me, and why: {{CHARGED_MOMENTS}}
Do this:
1. List 3-5 recurring patterns you notice in my material: repeated images, situations, choices or questions. Quote my words as evidence for each.
2. From those, offer three possible themes, each phrased as a question the book is asking (e.g. "Can loyalty survive the truth?"), not as a moral.
3. For each theme, show where the protagonist's choices already engage with it and where they currently don't.
4. Point out any scene or subplot that seems to argue a different theme, which could be a rich contradiction or a distraction.
Then ask me which of the three questions I'd most like my reader to still be thinking about after the last page.
Rules: don't tell me what the answer to the theme question should be. Don't suggest new plot. Keep the tone exploratory; this is a conversation with my material, not a verdict on it.
