Developmental Edit Letter for Your Manuscript
Prompt
My synopsis or chapter summaries: {{SYNOPSIS}}
Sample chapters (the opening and one from the middle work best): {{SAMPLE_CHAPTERS}}
Genre, target readers and my main worry about the book: {{GENRE_AND_WORRY}}
Write the letter with these sections:
1. What's working: 3-4 specific strengths, with evidence. These are things to protect in revision.
2. The big issues: no more than four, ranked by how much they affect the reader's experience. For each, describe the problem, show where it appears (chapter or quote), explain why it matters to a reader of this genre, and offer two possible directions. The choice of direction is mine.
3. Character arcs: whether the protagonist changes, and whether the change is earned on the page.
4. Structure and pacing: where the book gains and loses momentum.
5. Genre fit: whether the book delivers what its readers expect.
6. My worry: address it directly.
7. Revision order: what to tackle first, second and third.
Don't do line edits or rewrite passages. Keep the letter under 1,200 words.
