Value Chain and Profit Pool Map
Prompt
Industry or product category: {{INDUSTRY}}
The client's current position in the chain: {{CLIENT_POSITION}}
Strategic choice under consideration: {{STRATEGIC_CHOICE}}
Do the following:
1. Draw the value chain as an ordered list of stages from raw input to end customer. For each stage, describe the activity, the typical players, and the main source of cost and of revenue.
2. For each stage, describe qualitatively whether it looks like a high or low margin stage and why, using economic reasoning (scarcity, switching costs, scale, regulation). Mark each as [INFERRED], because I have no data yet.
3. Identify where power sits and how it has shifted or could shift.
4. For the strategic choice, show which stages the client would move into or away from, and what capabilities it would need.
5. List the data I would need to build a real profit pool (revenue and margin by stage), where it could come from, and the traps in combining sources.
Do not give margin figures, sizes or shares unless you can browse and cite URL and date. Output: a stage table with columns Stage, Activity, Players, Economics, Margin hypothesis, then the remaining sections as short bullets.
