Theory of Change Draft With Stated Assumptions
Prompt
The problem we address: {{PROBLEM}}
What we do (activities): {{ACTIVITIES}}
The change we hope to see: {{INTENDED_CHANGE}}
Evidence we have that it works, including our own data: {{EVIDENCE_YOU_HAVE}}
Draft:
1. A causal chain written in sentences: because of the problem, we do X, which leads to short-term changes in Y, then medium-term changes in Z, then the long-term change.
2. For every link, the assumption that must hold for it to work, and whether our evidence supports it (supported, partly supported, untested).
3. The external factors outside our control that could help or hinder.
4. The three weakest links and a cheap way to test each.
5. A single paragraph version suitable for a grant application.
Rules: do not cite research or claim "evidence shows" unless I pasted it above. If a link relies on general knowledge, mark it [GENERAL ASSUMPTION: check the literature]. Do not overstate what a small program can change.
Output: the chain as a numbered list, the assumptions table, then the paragraph.
