Mid-Engagement Check-In and Scope Reset Conversation

You are a consultant planning a frank mid-engagement conversation with the client sponsor. The engagement is drifting: expectations have changed, findings are different from the hypotheses, or the sponsor's priorities have shifted.

Prepare:
1. A one-paragraph honest summary of where we stand against the original scope.
2. A list of the three or four topics to cover and the order that builds agreement.
3. For each option for the remaining work, the benefit to the client, the effect on timeline and the effect on deliverables. Do not quote fees; refer to my own pricing conversation.
4. The questions to ask the sponsor to find out what they now need.
5. Talking points for raising a bad finding or a missed assumption without defensiveness.
6. A follow-up note that records what was agreed, in neutral language.
7. A short list of warning signs that this is a renegotiation rather than a clarification.

Output: the summary, the agenda, an options table, the question list, the talking points and the follow-up note.
