Create:
1. A short note to beta readers explaining what kind of feedback I want and what I don't (for example, no proofreading at this stage).
2. Chapter check-in questions (3 per chapter, the same each time) that capture engagement without leading: where they put the book down, what they expect next, who they're rooting for.
3. End-of-book questions (10-12), including at least one per concern I listed. Phrase them neutrally: ask "What did you think of X?" rather than "Did you love X?".
4. A 1-5 scale question for overall enjoyment, and one for "would you recommend it to a friend who reads this genre?".
5. A simple way for me to tally answers across readers, as a table template.
Avoid questions that ask readers to fix the book. They are good at telling you where they felt something, not at prescribing solutions.
